It was a long two days for the Fairfield Lady Lions (15-6, 12-1 SHL) after a disappointing loss on Monday and a postponed game on Tuesday. It came down Wednesday to the last Southern Hills League game of the season. To win an outright league title, the Fairfield Lady Lions would have to defeat the Manchester Lady Greyhounds (8-7, 7-6 SHL).

The Fairfield Lady Lions rebounded the Lady Lions followed their senior pitching ace Lauren Larrick to a 6-0 victory. Larrick threw her first career perfect game and her fourth career no-hitter and 24th career shutout. This was the Lady Lions second consecutive Southern Hills League Championship and their sixth in the last eight years. In the long and storied history of Fairfield Lady Lions softball this is their 16th SHL title.

Leading hitters for the Lady Lions: Courtney Huff (2 for 4, triple, 2 runs), Katilin Evans (1 for 2, double, sac bunt, 1 run, 1 rbi), Lauren Larrick (1 for 2, double, 1 rbi), Cynnamon Sova-Davy (1 for 3, 1 run), Taylor Butler (1 for 2, 1 rbi), and Justice Hattan (1 for 2, sac bunt, 2 rbi).

Lauren Larrick (15-5) picked up the victory for the Lady Lions. Lauren’s pitching line: 7 innings, no hits, no runs, no earned runs, no walks, and 13 strikeouts. Brooke Butcher (8-7) suffered the loss, but showed a lot of heart on the mound this afternoon. Brooke was hit by a foul ball on her pitching hand in the second inning, but stayed in the game and finished the game on the mound for the Lady Greyhounds. Brooke’s pitching line: 6 innings, 7 hits, 6 runs, 5 earned runs, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts.

The Fairfield Lady Lions host the Hillsboro Lady Indians today (Thursday) as the Fairfield Lady Lions will honor their three seniors Kortney Paris, Whitney Hanenkrat, and Lauren Larrick. Game time is slated for 5:00 PM
